Mnemosyne no Musume

Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi begins with two armed females engaged in battle, Prom Jurken ending with the death of one the women after she was shot in the arm as she was hanging off the side of a building, forcing her to fall. However, the next day the supposedly dead woman miraculously wakes up unharmed in her apartment. This kind of situation seems to be the norm because as the woman named Rin arrives to work the next day, her assistant, Mimi, nonchalantly acknowledges that she has healed from her injuries while preparing their morning shot of booze, also another norm. Rin Asougi is a female private detective who runs her own agency along with her assistant and possible lover, Mimi. Mnemosyne takes place in the Shinjuku district in Tokyo in 1990, where Rin office is located. Cocktailjurken Rin, adorned with glasses she doesn need, dresses in a buttoned up suit possibly in an effort to conceal her curvaceous figure along with her mercenary skills. While out on an assignment searching for a lost cat, Rin gets sidetracked when she sees a young man being hassled by three shady looking men in suits. She approaches them and is immediately punched back by one of the men. Unaware with who they are dealing with, the men quickly have their asses handed to them by Rin who decides to bring the young man back to her office. Mimi reprimands Rin for coming back with a man when she was supposed to be on the lookout for a cat. Rin and Mimi both decide to help the young man named Kouki Maeno, since he is in trouble and Rin is intrigued by his claims of having memories while lacking a sense of reality. She believes his problems are linked to Aoyama Pharmaceutical Research lab so she brings him along to investigate. What they find is inhumanity to the extreme and their own safety in peril.

Both Rin and Korte Cocktailjurken Mimi are fun characters and their chemistry is on whether it is Mimi playfully scolding Rin to perform her job professionally or when Rin informs Mimi that she brought her a man, then fondles her breast in front of the man. Mimi is the office manager and skilled hacker with a strong taste for booze, while having the youthful appearance of a teenager. They keep an adorable shaggy white dog in the office that sleeps and yawns lazily, again a sweet contrast to Rin dangerous life. Rin embodies the fantasy of the smart hot woman who removes her clothes to reveal a dangerous temptress. She possesses lethal fighting skills with a full arsenal of weapons and superhuman healing abilities. Rin alludes to her sinister past and makes the comment that she not a good guy yet her actions of helping Kouki show otherwise. With a female assassin on her trail and a new member joining her agency, Rin will have her hands full in dangerous adventures and certainly more erotic scenes with her comrades and adversaries.

Mnemosyne is being released as a 6 episode OVA to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the AT-X network, an anime station in Japan. The name of the series is probably derived from the Greek goddess of memory known by the same name. The series is full of female nudity, violence and yuri scenes which go from gentle fondling to full blown S torture. In addition to the sharp animation in the fight scenes, the realistic sounds of squished body parts, flesh tearing, neck-breaking make this series a must for fans who want yuri, gore and a strong storyline. The series is scheduled to release a new 45 minute OVA episode every month from February through July.
